The IAF shares the anti-doping commitment of the sports world, according to the directives of WADA, the World Anti-Doping Agency. For the IAF Anti-Doping Policy and Rules, see the links below to these documents.

Here are links to some essential WADA information about anti-doping and how this work is done:

TUE, Therapeutic Use Exemption

For aikido seminars, public demonstrations, and dan examinations, a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) for the use of Prohibited Substance (s) and Method (s) in relation to a medical condition, may be required.

Please consult your  the National Anti-Doping Organization (NADO) for specifics about these rules.

For IAF events, if you don’t have already a TUE from your NADO, please contact the IAF at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Future IAF events where TUE applies:

IAF DC Meeting Seminar Sept 2014 Romania

Other events may be added to the list.

If you need to apply for a TUE, please use the form below.

For more on the World Anti-Doping Code International Standards on TUE, to which the IAF conforms, see here.

Nutritional Supplements

WADA and other anti-doping organizations have found good reason to warn against the use of dietary and nutritional supplements. They may contain substances that are classified as doping, even when this is not specified on the supplement's list of ingredients.

Here is a short informational document on the subject from WADA:
