Liaison Meeting IAF-Aikikai / Sep 2020

Written on October 1, 2020

On Thursday, October 1st, the liaison meeting between the IAF and the Aikikai was held in a very constructive atmosphere. Decisions regarding the IAF General Assembly and the IAF Summit were agreed during the meeting.

Due to the travel limitation related to the pandemic, the meeting was organized via Zoom and consisted of a delegation of the Aikikai - Dojocho, Mr. Hayashi, Mr. Tani, Kanazawa Shihan and Ito Shihan, and IAF DC members - Kei Izawa, Wilko Vriesman, Dorin Marchis and Shoichi Kamiya, who is now also officially part of the International Department of the Aikikai as of October 1st.
The meeting was opened and closed by Doshu and chaired by Dojocho.

In view of the serious impact of the pandemic to all our members, it was agreed to split the IAF General Assembly and IAF Summit. For now, the IAF General Assembly will be held in the fall of 2021 and the IAF Summit will be held in 2022.
Also, Aikikai agreed in principle to allow IAF to participate in the annual All Japan Aikido Demonstrations held in Budokan every year.
More details to follow.
